THE KIMONO, is on this occasion the epicenter of our collection for its strong symbolic load and its extraordinary particularity of reflecting the artistic and cultural development in Japan.
This iconic ancient garment, the basis of common clothing, has been adapting and transforming at the same pace as Japanese society. This has allowed us to recreate a particular timeline.
Always inspired by kimonos from different eras, we have built our collection going through different historical periods of Japan. We can thus find fabrics that recall the traditional and rustic Kimonos of the 5th century prior to Chinese and Korean influence such as Ami, Hisa, Matsuko… or fabrics inspired by the Meisen era, where the thread began to be printed before being woven, thus obtaining the well-known Ikat effect such as Sakiko, or even fabrics inspired by kimonos from the 1920s and 1930s where influences from Art Deco or Russian avant-garde movements such as Kimi or Hayami can be sensed.
